Go to Ireland.
Wander until you find a stone wall or the remains of a stone house like this one:
Explore the space until you know it well. Sit there for hours. See it in the daylight, and then go back to see it in the darkness.
Close your eyes and run your hands over the stone.
Find the parts of it that have been broken.
Write a story imagining that breaking—thinking of the times in your life when you have also broken. Write about that, too.
Can you see yourself in the cracks? Can you see the past?
Is a broken thing still functional?
Is a broken thing still beautiful?
